Black-capped Babbler

Just after a nice session with the Black-crowned Pitta, this plucky Babbler got our attention as it strolled across our path. This babbler shares similar habits and habitat with the pitta but is said to not hop but walk. However, as the video shows, it does hop too. I suppose when one needs to avoid on-coming traffic, one has to do whatever it takes.

The Black-capped is one the most common babblers and found in primary and secondary forests on the coasts as well as hills. I find the hopping quite intriguing so I slowed it down for greater enjoyment.
