Bornean Flowerpecker

Its unmistakably beautiful fiery breast attracts the eye easily to this pretty flowerpecker. We were entertained by a pair while having lunch at the Hallelujah Lodge near Kinabalu Park. Endemic to Borneo, it is a common dweller of the montane forests of the island.

It is also known by several other names such as the Black-sided Flowerpecker and the Fire-breasted Flowerpecker. The first shot is a little fuzzy due to stabilization artifacts from the software - sorry. The ending shot shows the slightly shier female hidden in the Medinella bush.
